Xero Sum Engine SRD

The Xero Sum Engine (XSE) is a TTRPG framework for telling stories in grounded, realistic settings, such as noir, espionage, survival, crime, war, western, modern, low-fantasy, or hard sci-fi stories.

Built around a simple yet robust 2d6 mechanic, this ruleset provides a fast-paced, realistic experience that is easy to learn and quick to play. 

Characters creation utilizes a point-buy life-path system, with a focus on creating ordinary people in extraordinary situations rather than superheroes, wizards, or master spies.

Combat is deadly, fast-paced, and unforgiving. In addition to being able to outfight their opponents, characters will need to use their brains and social abilities to outthink them too. 

The SRD will be periodically updated as new rules are tested and added.
